Ghost In The Shell: A Necromon Deck Profile

The BT23 Hackers’ Slumber set, with the emergence of Hudiemon, has taken the Digimon Card Game by storm, but it’s honestly been the overshadowed Digimon Liberator themed Necromon deck and new support that has really captured my heart. I’ve been playing it for the better part of the month, and It’s soooo fun to play! I think many people saw the BT23 Gallantmon card and was like “That Liberator deck sure is dead”, but with how fast the deck moves, I think that’s not really the case. In this post I’ll show off my version of the deck and give a few of my comments on it. If you’d like though, in-tandem with this blog post I’ve also released an entire video on my YouTube channel going over some of the finer points of the deck and how it moves. I hope that will help you in picking up the deck and trying it yourself!

So first off, let’s show off the deck, and afterwards I can go over some thoughts:

You’re probably looking at this, and the splits might seem insane to you. “East, you have basically eight level 3, 4, and 5 Digimon!” I promise you, it’s really enough. The deck cycles well between the Analog Youth and the original evolutions so that once you find a single line, you’ll never have to worry about draw again. When any of your Phantomon are deleted, you can always just play out a level 3 Ghostmon to search more, and then use the BT20 Violet Inboots for a free evolve and as an additional draw. This on top of the “Unique Emblem: Soul Banquet” option card also letting you play a search Ghostmon means you will never be hard up for cards.

The decks main focus is to attack and execute, and then spawn 2-3 ghosts from it’s remnants over and over until you overwhelm your opponent. The BT23 Violet Inboots can give those newly spawned Digimon the coveted keyword effect, “Rush” so you can continue the offense. You’ll also get back memory from your Ghost Digimon when they’re deleted. What makes the ghost deck different from other decks that rely on On-Deletion effects is that unlike those other decks, the Ghost deck puts the power for you to trigger those On-Deletions in your hand, rather than hoping your opponent plays ball and deletes your stuff for you.

Thanks to the Keyword effect “Execute” which lets you, at the end of the turn, attack (Including your opponent’s unsuspended Digimon) and then after the attack, you delete the attacking Digimon. Through this effect you can tip the memory back over to your side of the board and take your turn back over and over.

The new level 7 Dullhamon also takes the deck to the next level allowing you to delete big Digimon, attack with Piercing and Security Attack +1, and on Deletion, play a Level 6 Ghost Digimon as well. What’s really nice about this is that both of the level 6 Necromon, allow you to also play a level 5 as part of their On-Play effect. Speaking of the Necromon, I think a lot of folks will be confused about the inclusion of the more defensive focused BT23 Necromon in the deck, but honestly, he is my go-to choice if I have to attack with Dullhamon and actually end my turn. With the Necromon on the board, my opponent has to be really careful about attacking, and I can also stave off attacks as well. Not to mention if they do get rid of him, he simply spawns a level 5 or lower ghost as well.

In a pinch, you also have the combination of the BT23 Ghostmon, who can evolve into a level 5 Phantomon directly by putting a level 4 Bakemon from your trash underneath the Ghostmon (This is made possible by the level 5 Phantomon’s hand effect, which only requires you have the level 3 ghostmon and Violet Inboots tamer on the board). To make this even better, the Phantomon says you can do this for a cost of 3, but thanks to the BT23 Ghostmon, you can reduce the cost by 1, making it a 2 cost warp from a level 3 to level 5. If you’re really in a pinch, and need the extra firepower, you can rest your BT23 Violet Inboots to give it rush (even if it doesn’t need the rush, you can still do this, which is important for the next part here, so keep reading) and when the Violet Inboots suspends, you can trigger the delay effect of your Soul Banquet option card to further evolve the level 5 directly into a level 7 Dullahamon for only 3 cost (it’s normally a 6 cost evolution from 5 to 7, but Soul Banquet basically cuts this in half).

Mentioning some of the tech cards in the deck, the Kimeramon is a great way to stack more “+1 memory” inheritance effects on top of two level 4’s, to create a memory bomb when he is deleted. MetalPhantomon is just some nice De-Digivolve, Blocker, and level 5 deletion for the deck, and the Pandemonium flame is a great way to cheaply take out your ghosts manually if you need to, while also getting rid of an opponent’s Digimon (bypassing effect immunity from Digimon effects. This is really nice against Jesmon using BT20 Gankoomon X-Antibody’s invincibility effect or Gallantmon X-Antibody). Also because many decks nowadays also allow the opponent’s Digimon to unsuspend on attack, if Pandemonium Flame comes up on a security check, it usually takes out their Digimon.

I could wax poetic about this deck, but I’m really a believer in showing rather than telling, so if you want to see how this deck moves, I implore you to check out my YouTube video going over some basic plays, and shows how the deck moves. There is also a nice little bit of info to help you better understand how “End of Turn” effects work, which will really deepen your knowledge of the game, and make you a much better pilot of the deck.

For now, thanks for reading my little deck profile, and I hope the video is also useful and entertaining! I’m currently using ads on the site to try and pay for the cost of the servers, but with adblockers being what they are, its not a perfect solution, and I would much rather not have to show ads if possible (I think everyone would be happier lol)
